License Plate Rear-View Camera
Posted on: 5-12-2008

Let's face it, rear view cameras are the way of the future. I mean it's a little old fashioned to look into small pieces of shined glass to see in the back. We use a thousand years old tehnology on a 21'st century car full of computers? And most of all the mirrors are useless when it comes to see the obstacles right in the back of your car when parking.

That's why some manufacturers started to include a rear view camera as an option for their new models. But if you drive an older car and want to benefit from this new technology the solution is a rear view camera kit. And the first one that got our attention is the License plate rear view camera kit from crutchfield.com.

The obvious advantage of this rear view camera is the easy way to install it: just replace your old license plate frame with this new one, wire it and you're done. No inestetic, outcentered holes in your bumper, no outside casings, just a simple license plate frame.

The frame itself it's quite sturdy, made of a chrome zinc alloy with a black or chromed finish. It is rust, scratch and water resistant. Attaches using four hex head bolts that are included in the rear view kit. You can see large, detailed pictures of the frame at the end of this review.

The camera has wide angle lenses with 130 degree view, both horisontal and vertical and comes included with all the wiring needed for install (24.5' video, power and ground). All you need is a monitor with a rear view camera imput.
