HTC Diamond Posted on: 5-6-2008

When Apple released it's iPhone it was clear that the device changed the mobile phone world forever. Alot of manufacturers released similar phones, trying to compete with the Apple phone, yet they failed to deliver a better product and they will soon be one step beyound since the Cupertino company is ready to release it's second generation phone, the iPhone 2.0.
HTC however developed a phone that, althought inspired by the Apple one, has alot of features that make it better, like GPS and 3G, all packed in a high quality case with a revolutionary design. The device launched today is namded HTC Touch Diamond
Similar features to the iPhone are: "eye candy" interface with touch screen interaction, full internet browsing, YouTube, weather, media player and even the accelerometers that auto-rotate the screen view when the device is turned sideways.
But the most important are the features that make the HTC touch better:
- HTC diamond resolution is 480x640px;
- HSDPA 7.2 Mbps conection that allows for broadband speed;
- GPS that works with any map software;
- Windows Mobile® 6.1 Professional that is an open system with plenty of third party software available;
- VGA resolution touch screen;
- Two cameras, back one with 3.2 Mpix autofocus and front VGA camera for video phone;
- Built in FM radio.
The only downside i could see in the product specifications of the HTC Touch Diamond is the 4Gb internal memory, that is enough for photo and music but can be quite small when it comes to video content.
The device will be available worldwide in June, don't know the price yet, and will come packed with a desktop cradle, stereo headset and a travel charger.

Here are some large, high resolution, official pictures of the HTC diamond:
